Red Wine Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a compound found mostly in the skins of red grapes. It is the medicinal component of the oriental medicine Ko-jo-kon. Ko-jo-kon is in an Asian medicinal compound that is used in the treatment of heart diseases as well as blood vessel disorders and liver diseases.

You will see some resveratrol reviews discussing the therapeutic benefits of Resveratrol as a possible antioxidant, an anti-cancer agent, and a phytoestrogen. Although the tests and studies show promise, these are not yet accepted as facts in the medical community. The products containing Resveratrol however, have certainly not had any known issues of harming anyone that has taken them.

As already mentioned the reason that Resveratrol is found in such abundance of red wine is because the grape skins are not removed during the wine fermentation process. Several studies have suggested in recent past that consuming red wine daily will lower the symptoms of coronary heart disease and this is linked to research that shows that wine contains the compound Resveratrol.

There have been more than one study that has suggested that Resveratrol is useful as an antioxidant agent. It is also suggested to assist in lowering bad cholesterol. Because resveratrol contains highly lipophilic and hydrophilic properties it is thought to be more effective than even vitamins C and E as an antioxidant. However not all of the reports are favorable, epicatechin and quercetin are additional antioxidant agents found in red wine and some say that they can be even more useful than the compound Resveratrol.
